  • Students may email success@ualberta.ca to book remote appointments.
  • For inquiries regarding academic accommodations for students with permanent documented disabilities and chronic physical and mental health conditions, please contact arrec@ualberta.ca.

Changes to Exam Accommodation Procedures:

Updated information about accommodation processes (including required steps and deadlines) is available. Details and deadlines for students are available here and information for instructors is available here.

Following the University of Alberta’s Discrimination, Harassment and Duty to Accommodate policy, the Office of the Dean of Students coordinates academic accommodations for prospective and current students with documented disabilities affecting mobility, vision, hearing, learning, and physical or mental health. The provision of academic accommodations helps to remove structural barriers encountered by these students in academic environments in order to facilitate equivalent learning opportunities.

The Academic Success Centre administers the University of Alberta’s Duty to Accommodate procedure for students and works with students, instructors, campus units, Faculties and departments, community and government agencies, and on and off-campus service providers to coordinate students’ disability-related accommodation needs for participation in university programs. Our practices follow federal and provincial regulations regarding post-secondary accommodations and physical and mental disabilities as legally protected grounds. It is important to note that, while the term ‘disability’ is utilized in government policies that guide our work, we employ inclusive language and practices that focus on people and diverse abilities first.

PLEASE NOTE:

  • Inquiries about student accommodations for protected grounds other than physical and mental disabilities should be directed to the Office of the Dean of Students at dosdean@ualberta.ca.
  • Inquiries about accommodations for staff and faculty should be directed to staff/faculty members' Human Resources Services teams.
