What is the MSc program?

Program Objectives
- Advance Research Excellence: Equip students with the skills to conduct original, high-impact research in specialized areas of mechanical engineering, including, health technologies and human performance systems; advanced manufacturing, automation, and product development; sustainable energy and environmental engineering solutions; fluid mechanics, aerodynamics, and propulsion systems; automation, robotics and intelligent control systems; high-performance materials and structural reliability; engineering systems integration, reliability and operations.
- Develop Technical Expertise: Create a learning environment that allows students to gain a thorough understanding of mechanical engineering principles through comprehensive coursework and thesis-based research, preparing graduates for work in industry, academia or government.
- Promote Ethical Responsibility and Professional Communication: Prepare graduates to uphold integrity in research and engineering practice by effectively communicating complex technical information, research findings, and ethical considerations to diverse audiences.
Learning Outcomes
- Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of mechanical engineering, including critical awareness of current challenges, emerging insights, and the limitations of theoretical frameworks, methodologies and experimental designs.
- Demonstrate the ability to conceptualize, design, and execute original research in mechanical engineering, applying advanced disciplinary knowledge to critically evaluate existing literature, construct logical and sustained arguments, and design novel experiments or models, while making informed judgments on complex issues and producing publishable work that contributes meaningfully to the field.
- Demonstrate professional written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to clearly convey complex mechanical engineering concepts, research findings, and technical arguments to diverse audiences.
- Demonstrate intellectual independence, initiative, and personal accountability, including the ability to reflect on and take ownership of professional growth, make informed decisions in complex scenarios, and pursue continuing development aligned with evolving career goals and disciplinary standards.

Master of Science in Engineering Management (Mechanical Engineering)
In addition to the MSc in mechanical engineering, the department also offers a MSc in engineering management that bridges engineering, technology, and business management, preparing professionals for academic, high-level research or strategic leadership roles.
