What you will learn
Program overview
This course will explore early orthodontic treatment from a growth-based perspective, emphasizing how differences in craniofacial growth patterns influence treatment timing, response, and clinical decision-making. Key concepts will include variability in early treatment outcomes, growth trajectories, and the use of growth-based frameworks to guide patient selection and management. The program will also cover management of challenging dental anomalies and orthodontic considerations in dental trauma, with a focus on practical, interdisciplinary care.
Syllabus
The day is structured as a lecture program.
The four lecture sessions will be:

Keynote
Dr. Heesoo Oh
Dual-trained in pediatric Dentistry and Orthodontics
Dr. Oh, DDS, MS, MSD, PhD, is professor and chair of the department of orthodontics at the University of the Pacific, Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry in San Francisco, California. She is dual-trained in pediatric dentistry and orthodontics.
Oh earned her DDS, MS in dediatric dentistry, and PhD from Chonnam National University in Kwangju, Korea, and later completed her MSD and certificate in orthodontics at the University of the Pacific. She is a board-certified orthodontist by the American Board of Orthodontics (ABO).
Her research focuses on clinical outcome studies investigating the effects of therapeutic interventions on the craniofacial region, with comparisons to untreated longitudinal growth data. She has received multiple awards and grants from the American Association of Orthodontists Foundation (AAOF), the American Association of Orthodontists (AAO), and the National Institutes of Health (NIH). In addition, Dr. Oh serves as a reviewer for leading orthodontic and dental research journals and as an examiner for the American Board of Orthodontics Clinical Examination.
