Host a Dental Assisting Practicum Student
General practice host offices needed for dental assistant practicums
Are you a dental clinic looking to mentor the next generation of dental assistants? The Mike Petryk School of Dentistry is seeking general practice dental clinics to host dental assisting practicum students for two weeks.
Our dental assisting students are enrolled in a comprehensive 10-month full-time program. By the time they graduate at the end of June, they will have completed coursework in oral facial science, dental materials, oral pathology, pharmacology, prosthodontics, and other specialized dentistry topics. Their education combines classroom learning with clinical practice in our Oral Health Clinic, culminating in a two-week practicum at community dental practices, where you come in.
By hosting a student, you can:
- Support and mentor future dental assistants in the final weeks before their careers start
- Have access to skilled trainees who can offer additional support for your clinic
- Evaluate potential for future employees
Requirements for Clinic Participation
To host a student, your clinic must be able to:
