Last week the University of Regina Faculty of Education announced it will no longer be supporting Camp fYrefly Saskatchewan, stating that providing staff and administrative resources to the annual leadership retreat for gender and sexually diverse youth is outside its mandate. Organizers are currently working with other community partners to ensure youth in Saskatchewan will have access to this important programming as fYrefly SK enters its 11th year.
The Institute of Sexual Minority Studies and Services and the UAlberta Faculty of Education will continue to provide support to fYrefly Saskatchewan during this time of transition, and are committed to ensuring its continued success.
