Dick Sobsey

Dick Sobsey, EdD, is a Professor Emeritus of Educational Psychology and the John Dossetor Health Ethics Centre (JDHEC) at the University of Alberta. He was a former Director of JDHEC. Dick has worked to improve health care, educational opportunities, and social conditions for people with disabilities and their families since 1968. He is particularly interested in human rights and violence prevention. His current research areas include positive changes in families of children with disabilities, long-term outcomes for babies born to mothers who experience severe trauma during pregnancy, crimes against people with developmental disabilities, and historical research on eugenic family studies.
