SLIS Staff - 7 February 2012

MLIS student Simon Underwood has been chosen as the University of Alberta's single candidate for selection in the MEXT Japan Travel Opportunity. This is a new program offered through the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology in Japan (MEXT). The Japan Study Program provides senior undergraduate and masters students with the opportunity to understand the current status of Japan after the disasters of March 2011, and to recognize the value of studying and experiencing life in Japan in the revival process. Student participants from around the world will take part in this event that will showcase Japanese innovation, culture, education and just how far the recovery effort has come. The Prince Takamado Japan Centre accepted student applications for those who expressed interest in this exchange opportunity. Simon's application stood out as a most deserving candidate; the Prince Takamado Japan Centre is looking forward to hosting him as a representative of the University and Canada!
