COVID-19 Vaccination appointments - Moderna and Pfizer* (first and second doses)

COVID-19 Eligibility Criteria for vaccine appointments at the UHC:

  • Pfizer: Individuals 12 years of age and older (born 2009 or earlier).
  • Moderna: Individuals 18 years of age and older (born 2003 or earlier)
  • Anyone who received Pfizer or Moderna can book their second dose 4 weeks after their first dose.
    • Typically the same mRNA vaccine is used for both doses in a vaccine series. But if the initial vaccine product is not readily available at your preferred immunization site or time, it is entirely appropriate to complete the vaccination series with either mRNA vaccine. I.E. Pfizer #1 can be followed by Moderna #2 or vice versa. Two doses of any of the COVID-19 vaccines available in Alberta are considered a complete, safe, and protective vaccine series (AHS, 2021).
  • Individuals who received an AstraZeneca dose should wait at least 8 weeks after their first dose before booking a second appointment for an mRNA vaccine.


Note: Vaccine appointments at the UHC are currently open to everyone with an Alberta Health Care card. If you have out-of-province or out-of-country health insurance you can request a vaccine appointment by calling 811.

To book an in-person appointment please call the UHC at (780) 492-2612 or book through Medeo online booking. Patients can also walk into the clinic to see a physician. 

Virtual care can be provided by phone call if possible, as per recommendations from the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta. 

Virtual phone appointments can only be scheduled for concerns related to; prescription refills; follow-up concerns related to lab work or chronic conditions where an examination is not needed; or respiratory symptoms including cough, cold, flu, fever.

  • You must be in the province of Alberta to have a virtual visit with a UHC physician due to provincial licensing regulations. If you are not currently in Alberta, please seek medical services in your area.

Due to decreased staffing levels during the COVID-19 pandemic, please be aware that response wait times have increased. If you are calling UHC between the hours of 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m., please be aware that wait times to speak with a staff member have increased significantly. If you have general clinic questions, please email UHC office hours are Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. until 4:00 p.m, any messages received after this time will be reviewed the following business day.

Exhibiting Symptoms: If you are experiencing COVID-19 symptoms, do not come to campus, follow AHS guidelines, and you can use the Medeo system to book a virtual visit or call the UHC to book a virtual visit with the physician.

For current patients registered for Medeo

If you have already signed up for Medeo (online booking) at UHC, you can log into your account directly to request a phone consult with one of our physicians. You can find the link to the Medeo website here.

For new patients or those not registered in Medeo
  • If you are a new patient to our clinic, please call the UHC at (780) 492-2612 to create a patient chart, book an appointment, and receive an invitation to use Medeo Online Booking.
  • If you are an existing patient who does not have access to Medeo online booking, please email and indicate that you would like to be invited to use Medeo for online booking at our office.
  • Once you have access to Medeo you will be able to book phone and in-person appointments with our physicians.
