University Health Centre

The University Health Centre is open and here to support your health care journey.

Whether you are feeling unwell or it's time for a regular check-up, the physicians and nurses at the University Health Centre are here to help and to answer any questions you have relating to your health care journey. As a member of the UAlberta community, you are welcome to use the UHC as your primary health care facility for the duration of your time at the university.


Accessing the Clinic:

New patients to UHC can walk in to see any available physician. Existing patients can call to book an in-person appointment at (780) 492-2612 or book through Medeo online booking. All patients can walk into the clinic to see a physician during office hours. You will be asked to show proof of your health care coverage and your ONECard or photo ID at every visit to the University Health Centre.

If you are experiencing concerns related to respiratory symptoms including cough, cold, flu, fever, sore throat, runny nose, loss of/change to sense of smell or taste, please call (780) 492-2612 to speak to a physician over the phone.

  • You must be in the province of Alberta to have a phone appointment with a UHC physician due to provincial licensing regulations. If you are not currently in Alberta, please seek medical services in your area.

Exhibiting Symptoms: If you are experiencing COVID-19 symptoms, do not come to campus, follow AHS guidelines, and call the UHC to book a phone appointment with a physician.


Our Services

We offer an extensive list of services to meet your health care needs. Our services are available to all staff members, students, and spouses and children of students.

Phone Calls:

Due to decreased staffing levels during the COVID-19 pandemic, please be aware that response wait times have increased. If you are calling UHC between the hours of 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m., please be aware that wait times to speak with a staff member have increased significantly. If you have general clinic questions, please email hws@ualberta.ca. UHC office hours are Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. until 4:00 p.m, any messages received after this time will be reviewed the following business day. 

Medeo Online Appointment Booking

The Medeo health care portal provides healthcare professionals with the ability to send secure messages to patients and allows patients to book appointments with healthcare providers. Learn moreYou can only use Medeo to book an in-person appointment if you are fully vaccinated and do not have respiratory symptoms.

For current patients registered for Medeo

If you have already signed up for Medeo (online booking) at UHC, you can log into your account directly to request an in-person appointment with one of our physicians. You can find the link to the Medeo website here.

For new patients or those not registered in Medeo
If you are a new patient to our clinic, please drop in for your initial visit with your ONECard and provincial health care card to see a physician. An invitation to use Medeo Online booking can be arranged at that time. Meet and greet visits are not booked with the physicians at UHC.
