Are you new to managing a work assignment or participating on a project team? Understanding basic project management principles and practices will help guide you towards organizing both yourself and your team towards delivering a project on time and within budget. Effective project management ensures a project is defined, kept within scope by managing change and proactively dealing with issues, and creating a manageable, achievable plan of action.

Our project management courses teach you the fundamentals of project management through a hands-on approach. You'll learn about key project management principles and tools by applying them to a real world project scenario throughout each course.

Project Management Principles and Practices Level 1

This course will introduce you to project management, explain why projects tend to fail and give you techniques to combat these causes. Tools to effectively define and plan a project, combined with practical examples on setting clear goals and objectives to organize, schedule and budget will help ensure that you are ready to manage a project.

Project Management Principles and Practices Level 2
Now that a plan has been created, it is time to put it into action! This course builds on skills, techniques and tools presented in Part 1. Focusing on the execution and completion of a project, it explores fundamentals that must be in place for a project to operate effectively and smoothly such as communication, reporting, work authorization and change management. Topics such as ensuring the project is kept on track by monitoring and controlling the correct level information, effective procurement of resources, ensuring quality is built into the solution and proper project close-out activities are explored. Combined with understanding the skills needed to be an effective, responsible leader will result in the achieving our goal as a project manager - delivering the right solution, on-time and within budget.

Project Level 1

Microsoft Project is a powerful project management tool that helps you stay on top of even the most complex endeavors. In our introductory course, you'll learn the basics of Project, including how to create a new project, build and manage a task list and create dependencies, assign resources, and track progress and costs.
