Department of Anthropology Students Participate in University of Victoria Archaeological Field School

Archaeological field school experience in Pacific Rim National Park

01 September 2021

For Covid-19 reasons, the University of Alberta was not able to have an archaeological field school this summer, but four current or former University of Alberta students took part in the University of Victoria archaeological field school, led by Iain McKechnie and Denis St. Clair in collaboration with the Teshaht community in the Broken Group, Pacific Rim National Park, on the west coast of Vancouver Island. Maïlys Piccoud, Maria Vigneron, Juliette Bedard (current undergraduates) and Meaghan Lamberton (former) worked at mid- to late Holocene occupations left by Teshaht ancestors on one of the Broken Group islands.
