BA (Anthropology) Honors
The BA with Honors provides broad training in Anthropology and an opportunity to undertake independent work.
*48- *60 at the junior or senior level to include requirements for the Major in Anthropology:
- Anthr 206, 207, 208, 209
- At least one course in Anthr 415, 481 or 498
- Anthr 499 (Honors Seminar and Research Project)
- An additional course at the 400-level (which can be one of 415, 481 or 498)
- The remaining credits must be chosen from senior (i.e. 200-level or higher) courses in Anthropology.
A minimum of 12 credits must be at the 400 level. Students are encouraged to take *3 in each of the four anthropological subdisciplines at the 300 or 400-level.
All Honors students must consult the Associate Chair (Undergraduate Programs) prior to registering.
Promotion Requirements - Promotion from year to year requires a GPA of at least 3.0 with an average of at least 3.3 in Anthropology courses.
Graduation Requirements - Graduation with Honors in Anthropology requires a graduation average of at least 3.0 with an average of at least 3.3 in Anthropology courses. Graduation with First Class Honors requires a minimum GPA of 3.7 on Anthropology courses beyond the junior level and 3.5 or better on all courses in the final year (last 30).
