Rebecca Beardmore wins the Fremantle Print Award

Rebecca Beardmore, a graduate of the University of Alberta Department of Art and Design (MFA 2001), has won the 2010 Fremantle Arts Centre Print Award for her work Seeing Between II.

Rebecca Beardmore, a graduate of the University of Alberta Department of Art and Design (MFA 2001), has won the 2010 Fremantle Arts Centre Print Award for her work Seeing Between II.

The judges described Rebecca's work, which utilizes digital techniques alongside traditional printmaking methods, "as a timely example of how printmakers adapt to modern technology". The 35th Fremantle Arts Centre Print Award runs until the 21st November, 2010.

Rebecca Beardmore has exhibited extensively throughout Australia as well as internationally in North America, Europe and Asia. She completed her undergraduate studies at Sydney College of the Arts, University of Sydney, before returning to Canada to undertake postgraduate research at the University of Alberta. After a three month residency in Tokyo, Japan she returned to Sydney in 2001.

Rebecca Beardmore is a lecturer at Sydney College of the Arts and has previously lectured at The National Art School, Sydney and The University of Alberta, Canada. Her work is held in numerous institutional, museum and private collections, including the Art Gallery of New South Wales, Rhode Island School of Art and Design and The University of Alberta, Print Study Centre.
