Professors representing all areas of research in the Department of Art and Design were presented with awards at the recent Celebrate! Teaching. Learning. Research ceremony held at the Myer Horowitz Theatre. Formerly held bi-annually, the celebrations have been collapsed this year and reinvented as a singular grand event.

Teaching Unit Awards were granted to Design Studies Associate Professor Robert Lederer as well as Sessional Instructor Greig Rasmussen in Industrial Design. Professor Betsy Boone, currently on sabbatical, was awarded the 2010 Excellence in Leadership Award, in recognition of "awareness of attention to issues that impact the quality of the working and learning environments."

Finally, the prestigious University Cup was awarded for 2011 to Professor Elizabeth Ingram. A prior recipient of the title of Distinguished University Professor, the Cup represents "the highest honor this University can bestow on a member of the academic staff and is granted only to those individuals who have achieved outstanding distinction in each of the areas of scholarly research, teaching, and service to the University and to the community at large." Professor Ingram's previous awards include the 2009 Royal Society of Canada Fellowship, and the 2008 J. Gordin Kaplan Award for Excellence in Research.

In addition, Visual Communication Design Associate Professor Bonnie Sadler Takach assisted with the awards program.
