2018-19 Studio Theatre Season

Studio Theatre combines research, teaching, entertainment and innovation into a season of five productions featuring students from the Acting, Directing, Design and Technical Theatre programs. 

All Studio Theatre productions are presented at the Timms Centre for the Arts (112 Street & 87 Avenue), one of the most technically advanced university theatre spaces in North America.


ON THE VERGE

Three Victorian female explorers band together to conquer Terra Incognita, the last and most mysterious of unexplored territories. Lounge singers, trolls and mysterious artifacts mark their whimsical adventure, as each woman strives to determine her individual destiny.


ALL FOR LOVE

This iconic Restoration tragedy depicts the doomed love affair of Antony and Cleopatra, and the struggle between passion and duty. An epic tale of love and honour, All for Love features heroic ideals, betrayal, and the opulence of court and power.


MIDDLETOWN

A quirky yet poetic story set in “a small town, like any other small town, located in the middle of the middle.” A handyman meets a pregnant woman, and an unlikely friendship forms through a kinship of spirit. Through the minutiae of everyday experiences, Middletown explores our longing for love, warmth and contact with others. 


SILENCE

Set during the Dark Ages but with contemporary overtones, Silence is the tale of Lord Silence of Cumbria who is forced to marry a fiery French noblewoman, Ymma of Normandy. This unlikely pairing exposes a revelation which makes them flee for their lives, and embark on a provocative journey of self-discovery.
