FoTL 2021 Call for Proposals

The Festival of Teaching and Learning is an annual event where all members of the University of Alberta teaching and learning community can share, demonstrate, explore, and debate diverse approaches to university teaching, with the goal of enhancing the teaching and learning environment across the institution.

Because the past year was a unique, exciting, and challenging time of transition in teaching, the Festival Steering Committee is calling for proposals answering ONE of the following questions:

  • What is one new teaching strategy you have adopted and why?
  • How might instructors design learning experiences which provide students agency in their own learning?
  • What have you learned about your students in the last year?
  • How have you created learning experiences that build connections and allow for collaboration?
  • What strategy or approach will you continue after the pandemic has ended and why?

Format Options

Each proposal is asked to select ONE of the following format options to answer one of the above questions:

  1. Synchronous webinar during the Festival (June 7th to July 9th): up to 15 minute live presentation and 30 minutes for Q & A.
  2. Asynchronous webinar (up to 15 minute video presentation posted to the FoTL website prior to the start of the Festival) and synchronous Q & A 30 minutes during the Festival.
