Emergency Medicine

Welcome to the Department of Emergency Medicine at the University of Alberta.

Our mission is to optimize and advance the provision of emergency medical care through excellence in education, research, and community service.

We offer training for Emergency Medicine trainees through the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada accredited program (5 years) and the College of Family Physicians of Canada (1 extra year of training after completion of a Family Medicine residency). We also offer clinical experience to medical students and residents from other training programs during their mandatory emergency medicine rotations.

Our research groups are heavily involved in evidence based medicine and have produced high-quality evidence based research for over 13 years. Knowledge synthesis and translation activities have provided a platform from which to exchange valuable information that has been used to improve the quality of care delivered to patients in the ED in Alberta, nationally, and internationally.

Please take a look around our website and if you have any questions, comments or concerns please feel free to Contact Us.
