Dr. Peter Senior receives the Charles H. Best Award

Congratulations to Dr. Peter Senior, professor in the Division of Endocrinology and Metabolism and the Division of General Internal Medicine, on receiving the prestigious Charles H. Best Award.

Presented by Diabetes Canada, the award recognizes a health-care professional who has made a significant impact on improving the quality of life of people living with diabetes across Canada.

A dedicated leader and advocate, Dr. Senior served on the Diabetes Canada Board of Directors for six years, including three years as board chair. He continues to support the organization as a member of its Mission Committee and was previously recognized as Diabetes Canada's National Volunteer of the Year.

Throughout his career, Dr. Senior has championed better care for people living with diabetes. He has helped shape national clinical practice guidelines, chaired the professionalism section, and remains a passionate advocate for his patients. He also currently serves as camp director for Camp Jean Nelson, where he helps create meaningful experiences for children aged 7–15 living with diabetes in Alberta's Rocky Mountain Foothills.

Dr. Senior is currently the Charles A. Allard Chair in Diabetes Research, medical director of the Clinical Islet Transplant Program, and director of the Alberta Diabetes Institute at the U of A.
