Learning Assessment Centre
Welcome to the Learning Assessment Centre
The Learning Assessment Centre (LAC) at the University of Alberta provides secure digital exam services that are convenient and comfortable for students, as well as friendly and efficient for instructors. We offer secure, proctored exams for faculty and staff at the University, as well as learners outside of the university that require testing services in the Edmonton area.
The Learning Assessment Centre and COVID-19
As the LAC is still navigating through the ever evolving COVID-19 guidelines put in place by the University of Alberta. The LAC is taking a phased approach to mitigate risks and we are prepared to adapt our centre as needed. Maintaining a safe and comfortable exam environment for students and staff is our top priority!
The steps the LAC are taking to maintain a safe exam experience:
- LAC staff will be sanitizing ID scanners and workstations between each use, as well as pens/pencils, calculators, and other reusable materials.
- During peak periods, the LAC will extend operating hours as necessary.
- Physically distanced seating will be provided in the waiting area outside of the LAC.
- Physical distancing will be employed whenever possible in the exam centre.
A message regarding COVID-19: PLEASE READ CAREFULLY
- LAC strongly recommends all visitors wear non-medical face masks. Starting March 16, 2022, masks are no longer required on campus. Masks are still strongly recommended in high-traffic areas and when working in close proximity to others, such as the LAC. For more information, please see the Masks on Campus webpage.
- Starting March 1, 2022, U of A will suspend its Vaccination Directive. This means any visitors on campus will no longer need to show Proof of Vaccination in order to write an exam at the LAC. For more information, please see the President's announcement on Feb 17, 2022.
- The LAC recommends hand sanitizing before and after your exam.
- Please make an effort to maintain social distance when possible.
- Please bring minimal personal belongings to your exam. Storage is available, but minimal.
- If you are exhibiting any symptoms of being sick, please stay home. Do not come in to write your exam if you are experiencing any COVID-19 symptoms, such as cough, fever, runny nose, shortness of breath.
