Zoom Webinars

Whether capturing a lecture, or meeting with a client remotely, we’ll streamline the setup of equipment and offer training for both web and video conferencing services.

Zoom Webinars
We provide the Zoom Webinar platform to host your next online event! IST’s licenses can accommodate events up to 500 or 1000 participants. We will walk you through the basic webinar setup and customizable options and can also provide training and support. Live transcription, recording and reporting also available. This service is currently available for use to all Faculty and Staff at the U of A. Standard webinars that occur during regular business hours are free of charge while highly customized webinars or after-hours support may require a fee.

Using Zoom Meeting
Zoom Meeting is a synchronous presentation tool integrated with eClass that allows instructors to use video, audio, and screen sharing to interact with up to 300 participants (hosts included). Features include recording, breakout rooms, whiteboard, and more. This service is currently available for use to all Faculty and Staff at the U of A. Apps exist for Android and iOS devices. Using Google Meet
Google Meet is a synchronous platform designed for live online video meetings with up to 100 users. This application is offered as a part of the U of A's Google Suite and can integrate easily with Google Calendar and other tools. Apps also exist for Android and iOS devices. Learn More.

Remote Exam Support

Remote Exam Support

During online exams we now provide first-tier phone support for issues related to eClass, Remote Proctor, and Smart Exam Monitor. Students and instructors can call 780-492-9372 to talk to an analyst during regular university business hours. Second-tier concerns will be escalated to the eClass team.

For in-person exams, we provide pre-exam checks (upon request) in which we will verify that all of the computers and equipment are running properly prior to your testing date in IST supported labs. This service comes at no additional cost, but is first come, first served so be sure to engage us at least 48 business hours in advance of your exam.

A hybrid classroom is a learning space equipped with the ability to stream a class for online learning. For more information please contact the Staff Service Centre.

What is in a hybrid classroom?
A hybrid Classroom is equipped with a computer, document camera, projector/display, microphone and a webcam that is connected to the room computer.

Zoom Backgrounds

The Virtual Background feature in Zoom allows you to display an image or video as your background during a Zoom Meeting. To learn how to add a virtual background, please see Zoom's Virtual Background guide. To download the University of Alberta backgrounds visit our private portal by using your CCID and password. Click ‘Login using SSO’ and you will be redirected to the ‘UAlberta Login’ page.
