Why did you choose the Faculty of Kinesiology, Sport, and Recreation for your undergraduate degree?

When I was choosing a university to study at, the University of Alberta stood out for many reasons. The fact that it was ranked in the top 5 universities in Canada and the Top 100 in the world was exciting. The cost of living in Edmonton was also a big attractant! I think one of the biggest reasons that I choose our faculty was our faculty’s reputation. Not only is our faculty one of the best in Canada, but it’s also the 7th best sport-related faculty in the world!

What is it specifically, that your program offers, that attracted you?

The opportunity to have a science-focused kinesiology degree really appealed to me. The practicum component, knowing I would have a chance to apply what I learn, was another big attractant.

What has been your favourite course so far and why?

KIN 335 (Advanced conditioning methodology). I like that the class draws on a bunch of knowledge from various other classes, and has a focus on applying that knowledge to practical situations.

What advice do you have for new undergraduate students?

Take advantage of any opportunities to apply what you learn in your courses, and don’t forget to stay active!

What do you like to do for fun or relaxation?

Sports and going to the Hansen Fitness and Lifestyle Centre always helps relax me when I’m feeling the stress. Highly recommend it!
