2016 Recipients

Formed in the spring of 2012, at the request of President Samarasekera, a visioning committee conducted a cross-campus consultation and discovery process on digital learning and created an Online Visioning Report. The first recommendation of that report was to "Aspire to offer the highest quality digital learning environment to enhance in-class experience and create a strong online learning presence." As a result, the University of Alberta has embarked on several digital learning initiatives including the creation of the Provost's Digital Learning Committee (PDLC) to support the implementation of digital learning activities more broadly across the university.

In March 2015, and again in January 2016, the PDLC requested proposals for the University of Alberta Blended Learning Awards. These awards involve a new teaching and learning opportunity for instructors at the University of Alberta interested in receiving support from the Centre for Teaching and Learning (CTL) for the purpose of redeveloping a current undergraduate course into a blended learning format. Blended learning involves a reduction of face-to-face contact time with a complementary increase in online delivery of content and instruction.

The PDLC is pleased is announce the following undergraduate courses have been awarded support for conversion of their courses to blended delivery:
