20 February 2018

The School of Dentistry's division of Continuing Dental Education (CDE) provides a variety of outstanding continuing education courses available for postgraduate dentists, dental hygienists, dental assistants, and dental laboratory technicians. Providing exceptional year round programming, with a focus on hands-on clinical and workshop based competency courses, and lecture based programs. We also offers ongoing certification programs across a wide spectrum of dental specialties.

CDE have continued to expand our certification-based offerings, most recently adding the Implant Training Residency Program. This program is aimed at general dentists / practitioners who are interested in learning and implementing dental implantology into their practice. Another area of expansion has been our Aesthetic Program. We were proud to be the first ADA&C / association accredited program to offer Dermal Fillers within the current Neuromodulator Certification Program. We provide didactic and clinical training to dentists looking to expand their practice services to their patients.

We also haven't lost sight of our lecture based courses, and are continually engaged with the wide-ranging dental community, to provide courses and events which facilitate the learning objectives that suit their needs and requirements. This brings more opportunities to integrate their knowledge and skills into their practice.

The Continuing Dental Education unit is led by Dr. James Yacyshyn, who has been with the University of Alberta for over 15 years. His dedicated team members are the CDE Supervisor - Kerry, Administrative Coordinator - Janice, and the Program Coordinators - Rachelle, Amaryllis, Cassandra, Kelsea and Shirlene.
