Elements of Prescribing Certification
96 CE CREDITS | TUITION $3,250 | LIMITED CAPACITY
This course offers Registered Dental Hygienists the skills necessary to safely and effectively issue prescriptions. Training will delve into the processes that contribute to drug use as well as the acquisition of the essential competencies.
Local Anesthetics Certification
45 CE CREDITS | TUITION $2,400 | LIMITED CAPACITY
This course provides RDHs a means of becoming certified to provide safe and effective pain management for your patients using local anesthetics. Training consists of a 3-month theory module and 3 day hands-on clinical module.
Nitrous Oxide Sedation Certification
15 CE CREDITS | TUITION $1,575 | LIMITED CAPACITY
This course is designed to empower Registered Dental Hygienists to utilize nitrous oxide sedation with confidence. Training consists of both didactic and practical hands-on participation involving the administration covering modalities 1 and 2 in Alberta.
Emergency Airway Management Certification

Dr. James R. Yacyshyn - DDS, MS, BSC
Dr. James Yacyshyn obtained his BSc and DDS from the University of Alberta and completed a Masters in Applied Science Engineering from the University of Toronto. With a background in health technology and Informatics, Dr. Yacyshyn joined the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry in 2001 - later appointed as the director of Continuing Dental Education in 2002.
As Director of Continuing Dental Education, Dr. Yacyshyn has developed and facilitated numerous educational programs spanning various topics for licensed Dentists, Dental Hygienists, Dental Assistants, and allied health practitioners across Alberta, nationally, and internationally. Additionally, through Continuing Dental Education's clinical programs, we have provided care for numerous patients over the years.
