St Joseph's College Remembers Dean Mortensen

January 24th, 2013 will mark the 21st anniversary of the disappearance of Dean Mortensen.

In his honor the Students Union Awards the Dean Mortensen award to students who show strong participation in campus intramural events, demonstrate strong leadership skills and a dedication to others and who contribute to a safer and more secure campus atmosphere at the University of Alberta.

On Friday, January 18th, in Dean's memory the residents of St Joseph's College hold a yearly day of remembrance the Friday before the anniversary of his disappearance. Residents of St. Joseph's College, otherwise known as the "Rangers", hang their jerseys out the windows of the north face of the building. There will be a vigil service for the residents of St. Joseph's College, past and present, at 5pm on January 18th.

Dean has been and will continue to be missed by his family and friends. May he rest in peace.

Dean was a first year science student at the University of Alberta and resident of St Josephs College. He was an integral member of student life at St. Joseph's College, showing enthusiasm in academics, intramural sports, and residence life.
