Assistant Professor Dr Matt Hoven will offer two sessions at the upcoming annual convention of the National Catholic Education Association (NCEA).

Standing Up to Scientific Atheism: Contemporary atheists often use science to diminish the significance of religion. Science teachers may wonder how belief in the resurrection or miracles relates to modern science. Dr Hoven offers key insights and a multitude of examples to show how scientific findings can support a Christian view of creation.

Quarterbacks and Quantum Mechanics--Making RE Relevant for Teens: RE teachers want valuable learning for their students, but it is difficult to teach in a way that is sound in content and relevant to other subject areas. This workshop will offer a Catholic vision filled with examples of how RE can incorporate insight from sport and science--making learning more engaging and fruitful for young people.

NCEA, host of the convention, is the largest private professional education organization in the world, representing 200,000 Catholic educators serving 7.6 million students in Catholic elementary and secondary schools, in religious education programs, in seminaries, and in colleges and universities.
