SJC Recognizes Dr. Paul Flaman after 39 Years of Service

On July 1st, 2022, the Board of Governors congratulated Dr. Paul Flaman on being granted the title of Professor Emeritus at St. Joseph’s College, University of Alberta, with all the rights and duties of that role:

"Whereas, Dr. Paul Flaman is retiring from his position as Full Professor at St. Joseph’s College, at the University of Alberta.

Be it so resolved that on this day, Archbishop Richard Smith Chair of the Board of Governors, President Shawn Flynn, and the Board of Governors at St. Joseph’s College, recognize and thank Dr. Paul Flaman for his 39 years of extraordinary service at St. Joseph’s College.

Having served faithfully as a Professor of Christian Theology, Dr. Flaman has contributed to the areas of Marriage and Family Life, Moral Theology, Neuroscience, Christian Spirituality and Bioethics.

Beginning College at 1983, as a Lecturer in Theology, Dr. Flaman became an Assistant Professor in 1985, and Associate Professor with tenure in 1989, later gaining the rank of Full Professor.

Dr. Flaman has published six books, and has served as Academic Dean and College Ombudsperson throughout these years of service."

A celebration was held with faculty, staff and Dr. Flaman's family to recognize his service to the College.
