Angela Neufeld MD, FRCPC

Dr Angela Neufeld completed her Bachelors in Medical Science, Medical Degree, and residency at the University of Alberta in Edmonton. She then went on to complete a fellowship in Cardiothoracic Anesthesiology at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN prior to returning to the Mazankowski Alberta Heart Institute and University of Alberta Hospital where she has been working as a staff anesthesiologist.
She has developed a passion and interest for Perioperative Blood Conservation, decided to add clinical research to her profile, and successfully acquired two grants for projects involving the use of autologous whole blood for avoidance of allogenic transfusion in cardiac surgery patients. This will be her inaugural year of being a judge at the Department of Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine’s Annual Gelfan & Bell Research Day.
Akua Gyambibi MD, FRCPC

Dr. Akua Gyambibi was born and raised in Edmonton, Alberta. She completed medical school as well as her anesthesiology residency at the University of Alberta in 2015 and 2020, respectively. During her training, she developed a passion for regional anesthesia and completed fellowship training in Regional Anesthesia and Acute Pain at Dalhousie University in Halifax in 2021. She joined the U of A Department of Anesthesiology as a staff anesthesiologist later that year, and practices jointly at the University of Alberta (UAH) and Misericordia Community Hospital (MCH).
Akua greatly enjoys clinical teaching and engaging residents and colleagues in regional anesthesia education. She is the current rotation coordinator of the regional anesthesia resident rotation at the UAH, and has been an instructor at ultrasound and cadaver workshops as an associate faculty member of the American Society of Regional Anesthesia (ASRA) and a faculty member of the Canadian Anesthesiologist’s Society Regional Anesthesia Section.
