The Faculty of Arts celebrated excellence in teaching, research and service with an awards ceremony at the Faculty Club on the evening of May 6, 2014. Please join the Department of Art & Design in congratulating each of our award recipients.

Royden Mills was awarded a Contract Instructor Teaching Award and was also the recipient of the University of Alberta-wide William Hardy Alexander Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching.

Roy is an exceptional, long-standing sculpture instructor who is known for being extremely generous with students, tirelessly sharing his passion and inspiring them to pursue their full potential in the art world. As one student wrote in a letter of support, "Mr. Mills believes in the potential of students in such a way as I do not believe I will ever witness again in my life."

Emmanuel Osahor was awarded a 2014 Roger S. Smith Undergraduate Research Award which provides $5,000 to cover 15 weeks of research-based activity over the summer for his project "Studio Art Effectiveness as Positive Aid for High Risk Youth."
