Part of these programs includes a research component (BIOCH 398/498/499); in addition, students who are in the Biochemistry program and who wish to have the experience of carrying out research are encouraged to apply for summer student positions. They can develop their own research skills, experience the fun of basic research and gain an understanding of how biochemistry labs operate. Students are also encouraged to complete a directed research project in one of the department's laboratories in their final year.
