School of Retailing

Welcome!

SCHOOL OF RETAILING

CANADA’S PREMIER

RETAILING EDUCATION

Retailing Education throughout North America is stable, slowly growing and gaining appreciation with both students and industry. Schools like University of Florida, Harvard, Kellogg and Texas A&M have identified retailing as an important area of education. In Canada, Halifax introduced a centre focused on innovation with plans for a retail management undergraduate program. Aldo, recently announced 25 Million Dollars will be provided to McGill University in Montreal to build a retail management school. However, the University of Alberta wants to shift this learning into a much higher gear – we believe the School of Retailing has the right kind of leadership and infrastructure in place to improve upon the status quo and to accelerate the quantity and quality of graduates passionate about a career in retailing. We believe that retailing represents a significant part of Canada’s global economic future, as relevant as accounting or finance or human resources and the School of Retailing is well positioned to lead the way.

To provide retailers with a talented, skilled and specialized workforce

To develop and deliver both post-secondary and executive education programs that are relevant for retailing

To advance Canadian-relevant retail research

To advocate and promote excellence in retailing
