The Division of Infectious Diseases is excited to be hosting our annual Research Day in conjunction with the Dr. Geoffrey Taylor Lectureship on Thursday, May 28, 2026.

We are pleased to invite faculty members, clinicians, trainees, allied healthcare workers, researchers, and other staff to participate.

Join us in person in room 2-193 Clinical Sciences Building! There will be a virtual option for those unable to attend all or part of the event in person.

Call for Abstracts

The submission deadline was April 24, 2026. Thank you for your interest.

Abstracts can be work in progress or published within the last 12 months.
You may submit an abstract presented in the past 12 months, or planned to be presented, at a national/international conference.
In addition to original research, case reports will also be accepted where a novel observation or key learning highlighted.
Text of abstract: 300 words maximum and keep abbreviations to a minimum.

The top 3 abstracts will be selected for oral presentation at Research Day in each of the two categories below and will be awarded a prize:

Basic Science
Clinical Research

Additionally, all other abstracts may be selected for brief “flash talks” and discussion.

Pediatric Infectious Diseases SSRs
Medical Microbiology residents
Clinical Microbiology Fellows
Transplant ID Fellows
Graduate students (MSc or PhD) under supervision/co-supervision by a member of the Division of Infectious Diseases or FoMD.

11 a.m. - 12 p.m.	Dr. Geoffrey Taylor Lectureship: Rob Fowler, MDCM, MS (EPI),FRCP[C] Professor of Medicine, University of Toronto Title: Lessons of outbreaks: the treatment of “untreatable” patients. Objectives: To demonstrate examples of global paradigm change in the care of patients with previously perceived untreatable infections. To demonstrate the role that excellent care plays in treating the world’s sickest patients—from SARS to Ebola—and how that care drives a feed-back cycle of better outcomes and better research.
