Sarah Sweneya

Master of Science, Speech-Language Pathology, Rehabilitation Medicine

"Through my experience in the classroom and engagement in my local community, I couldn’t help but notice the glaring need for speech-language pathologists (SLPs) who could bridge linguistic and cultural gaps."

Sarah started speaking with other professionals and experienced speech-language pathologists. These conversations furthered her interest and ultimately motivated her to pursue a career in speech-language pathology.

Sarah believes in celebrating small victories. She believes it to be essential for clients to recognize their achievements and the progress they've made in their journey towards improved communication.

Sarah's advice for prospective students:
"Seek out different work or volunteering opportunities prior to applying. This can help clarify your interests and career goals. Furthermore, it's important to understand that there is no single, predefined path to becoming a speech-language pathologist. Varied experiences and diverse backgrounds enrich the profession, providing a wealth of expertise and knowledge in ways you wouldn't expect."
