The Alberta School of Business at the University of Alberta is comprised of four departments that cover all aspects of business and management.

AOIS offers courses to undergraduate and graduate students that form the basis of an accounting major and an MIS major. Many AOIS graduates pursue careers in professional accounting. The department also offers a strong PhD program in accounting.

FSA has a distinguished history of research contribution, with regular publication in the leading international journals of finance, operations research, statistics, and economics. The department also has a considerable record in applied research and has influenced the development of provincial and national public policy.

MBEL is internationally known for research in Marketing, International Business (IB), and Natural Resources and Energy (NRE). Excellent teaching and innovative content have made IB and NRE the most popular specializations in the MBA program, and business law courses are in great demand by students from business and across campus.

SMO is a research- and teaching- oriented department that is ranked highly in Canada with respect to publications in top tier journals. SMO faculty members have received many teaching awards, including the coveted 3M award. The department offers courses in many disciplines, in addition to a flourishing PhD program.
