The primary focus is on exploring the role of B Corporations and using an impact assessment tool to measure how a business can be a force for good. The course is project-based, connecting students directly with businesses interested in formalizing their policies to have greater impact.

SMO 488, LEC X50 - Introduction to Indigenous Business

Winter 2021, Tuesday 6:00 - 9:00 PM
Instructor: David Deephouse

This course is part of the essential and at times uncomfortable work towards reconciliation. Creating this new course incorporates some of the instructor's learning about indigenous experiences since March 2014, after attending the Alberta National Event for Truth and Reconciliation in Edmonton. The course not only reveals some of the negative experiences of Indigenous peoples in an economic context but also highlights some indigenous business accomplishments, opportunities, and aspirations.
