About Us

Welcome to the website for the Division of Cardiology at the University of Alberta Hospital. This site provides an introduction to a vibrant and growing and multidisciplinary cardiology division. The division has strengths in cardiovascular research, patient care and education.

Cardiology is the medical subspecialty concerned with the prevention, diagnosis, management, and rehabilitation of patients with diseases of the cardiovascular system. A Cardiologist is a specialist who is an expert in the diagnosis and management of all aspects of cardiovascular disease.

The multidisciplinary cardiology team includes leading academic cardiologists who conduct research, teach the next generation of physicians and researchers, and provide top-notch clinical services for patients in Alberta and from British Columbia, Yukon, Nunavut, the Northwest Territories and Saskatchewan.

The Division of Cardiology at the University of Alberta Hospital is a full-service division with expertise in a broad range of areas of clinical cardiology, including cardiac transplantation, electrophysiology, echocardiography, interventional cardiology, gene therapy at clinical trials and outcomes research. The division is proud of its multidisciplinary membership, which includes MDs as well as PhDs and Pharm Ds.
