Starting this Spring, the Department of Economics will offer ECON 110: An Introduction to Writing for Economics Students. The course offers formal instruction in the basic principles of writing, and includes hands-on practice to promote clear writing skills. Examples and exercises will be drawn from economics. Students will also make oral presentations. The communications component of the course will enable students to express ideas and arguments with greater confidence and proficiency.
ECON 110 will meet *3 of the *6 ENGL/WRS requirement for Economics Majors and Honors students. ECON 110 is made available with revenue generated by the Economics market modifier. The new, small enrollment course is expected to be of particular value to international students.
