Prof. Alexander Gainer knows first hand the benefits of using computers to administer exams. The Department of Economics instructor discussed his experience at the Festival of Teaching and Learning held on May 4, 2017 at the Edmonton Clinic Health Academy, University of Alberta. The Festival is a highlight event for the Centre for Teaching and Learning who's mandate is to help instructors with all aspects of their teaching development through a variety of programming including consultations, workshops, courses and online resources.

Prof. Gainer gives over 4,600 exams in classes ranging in size from 75-400 students. In providing the option of using computers, he finds there were many benefits to instructors, including less cheating, better assessment, and less work and stress for the instructor in the long-run. The feedback from his students is very positive with many highlighting the comfortable exam writing environment and the ability to choose the day and time they write their exam.
