Admission Requirements


In order to be considered for the GCES program, you must meet the following requirements:

  1. A four-year baccalaureate degree from a recognized university with a 3.0 GPA on the last 60 credits of course work (6.5 on the 9 point scale).
    Note: For lower GPAs, admission may be granted based on work experience - see Guidelines for Considering Life Achievement.

  2. Two years of pedagogical experience, for example:
    • experience in a school setting as a teacher, teaching assistant or educational assistant (including HeadStart and pre-K)
    • experience in community classes as a teacher, teaching assistant or educational assistant
    • serving as a language mentor or apprentice
    • experience in some pedagogy-adjacent activities (example: materials development)
      Note: other relevant experience will be considered at the program's discretion.
