Research excellence

Dr. Lori West, Department of Pediatrics, has been appointed as an Officer of the Order of Canada for her leadership in the field of organ transplantation and donation. Read her story.

Dr. Patrick Pilarski, Department of Medicine and adjunct in the Faculty of Rehabilitation Medicine and Department of Computing Science, is among the 12 U of A experts in artificial intelligence and machine learning who have been named Canada CIFAR AI Chairs at the Alberta Machine Intelligence Institute (Amii).

Dr. Lucie Pecheux, Department of Pediatrics - “Could we assess better how ready our pediatric patients are to safely receive chemotherapy using a body composition monitor?”   

Dr. Sophia Pin, Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology - “Weight loss prior to surgery in women with obesity and either pre-cancerous or low-grade cancers of the uterus”
