Alumni resources for FoMD student groups

Did you know there are over 16,000 FoMD alumni living around the world, with various backgrounds, skills and interests?

There are many ways alumni can add value to student activities, including but not limited to:

  • Speaking at an event / sharing stories
  • Sharing career advice and insights
  • Participating in mentorship activities
  • Contributing ideas and advice to the executive board as an alumni representative
  • Connections with industry and organizations
  • Social and networking opportunities

FoMD student groups / clubs can request support from the FoMD Alumni Advisory Council (AAC) for activities that connect students and alumni. Here’s the supports the AAC can provide:

  • Help student groups find suitable alumni volunteers/attendees for their activities
  • Promote your activity or event to FoMD alumni (please note that we promote activities to alumni through the quarterly FoMD alumni newsletter so please provide as much notice as possible to ensure we can include your activity)
  • Provide small grants (up to $500) to support activities that connect alumni and students
  • Provide door / raffle prizes (up to $100 in value) from alumni-owned businesses for events and activities that connect alumni and students
  • Track alumni volunteerism and recognize FoMD alumni who to give their time to student activities (e.g. we will send a thank you card to alumni who support student groups / clubs - this ensures alumni feel appreciated and want to continue to give their time)

NOTE: Priority for support will be given to activities that:

  • are open and accessible to your intended audience
  • demonstrate benefits to FoMD students or the larger community
  • contribute to the FoMD vision, mission and core values
  • provide quality engagement opportunities for FoMD alumni
  • show efforts to seek other financial support (for financial support requests) and demonstrate financial sustainability (for recurrent activities)

Complete the following form to request support for upcoming events that engage alumni. Provide as much lead time as possible ahead of an event for review and response (6-8 weeks is optimal as the AAC meets bi-monthly).

Those who started their residency program in 2013 and onwards automatically become Associate Alumni.
