The University of Alberta's strong showing as a rankings star - bolstered by student satisfaction, especially in the area of mental health - has been reaffirmed by Maclean's magazine, which has once again placed Alberta's flagship university among Canada's top five.

For the first time in its 25 year history, Maclean's ranked the best universities across Canada in 10 program areas - including nursing.

The University of Alberta Faculty of Nursing was ranked second in Canada, much to the delight of dean Anita Molzahn.

"We offer exceptional nursing programs and are proud to have the accomplishments of our dedicated educators and scholars recognized," she said. "While the measurement of quality is challenging and many possible indicators were not included in the Maclean's rankings, we strive for excellence in all we do."

The University placed first for total operating budget, third for faculty awards, fourth for research citations and fifth for total research dollars amongst Canada's 15 medical/doctoral institutions. The University also ranked fifth in the new student satisfaction survey, which saw students place UAlberta second for mental health.
