Clinical Fellows

Oncology currently offers fellowship training programs through the divisions of Radiation Oncology and Medical Oncology, and overseen by the Postgraduate Medical Education Office. These fellowships typically have an appointment of 12 months (starting July 1 and ending June 30) with the possibility of renewal depending on a fellow's career goals and availability of funding.

Clinical and research training are conducted at hospital sites such as the Cross Cancer Institute, the Royal Alexandra Hospital, and the University of Alberta Hospital.

Educational Objectives

Specific educational objectives including the description of training, an outline of objectives and competencies to be achieved, clinical responsibilities including call duties, service requirements, and expectations of research activities and academic productivity would be outlined in detail in the letter of offer, but in general, the goal is to provide appropriate clinical training and exposure to research activities.

A fellowship certificate will be granted by the University of Alberta upon successful completion of the fellowship that the fellow was registered.

Funding is variable but a typical current salary is approximately $75,000 per annum, plus benefits.

All interested applicants pursuing a fellowship at the University of Alberta should provide a current CV, three letters of reference and a letter of interest, specifying which fellowship you are pursuing and your motivations.
