3.4 Teaching Responsibilities

Participation in teaching activities within the undergraduate program offers several opportunities to graduate students. These activities enable graduate students to practice their communication skills, gain teaching experience, and build a teaching portfolio. The faculty also offers a limited number of Teaching Assistantships (TA's) that provide financial remuneration for some graduate student teaching activities. Expectations of graduate student TA's are guided by the Collective Agreement Governing the Academic Employment of Graduate Students and further details are provided in Section 7.1. Graduate students are encouraged to talk to their supervisor and other faculty about their interests in teaching and look for opportunities to gain teaching experience. The Graduate Teaching and Learning Program is an initiative designed to help graduate students develop teaching and learning skills.
