03 July 2012

Dear Colleagues,

As you know, I began my term as Acting Provost on July 1, 2012, and leave the faculty in the very capable hands of Dr. Bob Haennel, who will serve as Acting Dean during my year away. Bob brings tremendous leadership and experience to this role and will continue to raise the profile of our faculty and the importance of rehabilitation medicine within the university, with hospital and clinical partners, and with the community-at-large.

It's because of the exceptional team we have here that allows me the opportunity to go to the provost's office. Your creativity, commitment and dedication have been instrumental in us furthering our four strategic goals -Innovative Teaching and Clinical Education, Focused World-Class Research, Community Awareness and Engagement, and Global Partnerships-and have paved a clear path for us moving forward.

I view the next year as an exceptional opportunity for all of us. It will be a unique experience for me to get an inside look at a different level of university administration, which will only benefit our faculty moving forward. I look forward to sharing this knowledge with you when I'm back as well as hearing about the new experiences the next year brings for each of you.

Thank you all for your support during my first term with the faculty. Have a great year, and I look forward to returning to my "home" next summer.

Sincerely,

Martin Ferguson-Pell, PhD
