Class of 2023 Student Grad Photos

How to get your grad photos taken for the composite of your graduating class

COVID-19 has changed how FRM captures grad photos. Normally we bring a photographer onsite, take over Alumni Lounge in Corbett Hall or a classroom in Calgary, and have the photos done within a week.

This year, given the restrictions, we are asking you to go to SUBPhoto, located conveniently in the Student Union Building on campus, at a date and time that works for you.

FAQs

I was wondering if we are part of the Edmonton cohort, but currently residing in Calgary if it is okay to attend a grad photo session in Calgary?
Yes, yes it is.
I am in BC/Ottawa/somewhere else. How do I get my grad photo done?

For students who aren't in Calgary or Edmonton and who won't be in Edmonton anytime between now and your grad date, we ask that you have photos taken at a local photography studio, then email a photo to SUB Photo for inclusion in the class composite. Here is the link to SUB Photo's submission guidelines: https://www.subphoto.ca/answers/submissions/

Or

For those of you NOT in Calgary and NOT in Edmonton and who are unable to be in Edmonton anytime between now and September 30, 2021, here are the SUB Photo submission guidelines so that you can be included in the class composite: https://www.subphoto.ca/answers/submissions/.

Can we choose the enhanced option (includes group photo) or just the basic option?

Yes, choose the enhanced option if you wish, keeping in mind that SUB Photo isn't doing group or family photos at this time because of COVID. As well, you'll need to pay the $10 difference in sitting fees ($35 vs $25).

Why the grad photo sessions are happening so early into our program? If we are unable to make the few days available during late February is it possible to get the photos taken at a later date? Can we wait until September and have them taken in Edmonton or at another date here in Calgary?

The reason we are having photos done early is because we do Calgary photos once a year. Last year at this time we ran into snags due to COVID. We are playing catch up and being proactive at the same time because a) COVID is unpredictable and b) who knows what your placements are going to look like in the future.

Yes, you absolutely can wait and have your photos taken in Edmonton instead. Please book an appointment with SUB Photo for a date and time that works for you in the fall.
