Student Infrastructure
Our goal is to raise $350,000 to redevelop the present Knowledge Commons into a student lounge where students can relax between patients and lunch hour.
The Commission on Dental Accreditation of Canada recognizes the need for dentistry and dental hygiene students to have suitable space for relaxation and informal interaction. Presently, our students have access to the "Knowledge Commons" area in KAYE Edmonton Clinic, which is a space managed by University Libraries. This space is a designated library facility for all learners within the KAYE and is equipped with computer stations to access library resources. The space is underutilized for its intended purpose as library resources are now readily available to all students through their personal computers. The senior administration of the Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry is highly supportive of transforming the Knowledge Commons space into a student lounge.
