Degree program: Master of Science, University of Alberta
Supervisor: Thomas Stachel
I am a Master’s student enrolled in the Diamond Exploration and Research Training School. Prior to starting this degree, I acquired a Bachelor of Science degree, majoring in Physics, from Hong Kong Baptist University. My research interests lie in studying the properties and applications of diamond, investigating the micro-/macro-diamond relationship, and gemmological analysis. The focus of my MSc thesis project is the spectroscopic analysis of diamonds. This includes the extensive use of spectroscopy (FTIR and UV-Vis) to detect the structural defects in yellow diamonds, and spectrometry (SIMS) to measure and compare the carbon isotopic composition of micro-/macro-diamonds.
