Funding
• Generous support through graduate assistantship funding of 4 years (PhD) and 1.5 years (MA) . Current rates in 2009/10 are:
Canadian / Permanent Resident / International Students
• $13,912 for Year 1 MA
• $21,816 for Year 1 PhD
• Outstanding applicants may also be nominated for University of Alberta Recruitment Scholarships and/or General Awards

Minimum Admission Requirements
• A baccalaureate degree or equivalent from an academic institution recognized by the University of Alberta
• Minimum of 3.5 GPA on 4.0 scale in last two years of full-time study
• Curriculum vitae, statement of intent and research interests
• Three academic appraisal letters with original signatures
• Writing sample
• English language proficiency for degrees in a language other than English as demonstrated through TOEFL, MELAB, or CAEL
