Proctor Patrol appreciation event

Proctoring offers a great way to get involved in the life of the department.

09 May 2016

Pictured are members of the Undergraduate Proctor Patrol who attended an appreciation lunch held in their honour during the last week of classes. The lunch was hosted by Dr. Lisa Strohschein (Associate Chair, Undergraduate) and Pamela Minty (Undergraduate Advisor). Proctors are third or fourth year undergraduate students who are trained to assist professors in administering and monitoring exams in large enrolment classes. This past year, the department hired more than 30 proctors who assisted with nearly 120 exams.

Proctoring offers a great way to get involved in the life of the department. Students who are hired as proctors say they appreciate the opportunity to meet other proctors and to interact with sociology professors. Proctors also feel like they are making a difference and are doing their part to maintain academic integrity. If you are a third or fourth year student who is interested in taking part in next year's proctor patrol, please send an email to Pamela Minty, Undergraduate Advisor, in the Department of Sociology, along with your resume and a copy of your transcript before August 15, 2016.
