Institutional Stewardship Initiatives

University Health Centre

The University Health Centre offers medical services to all staff, students and family members of students. The centre is welcoming to all and provides family physicians, sexual health services, transgender healthcare, mental health support, nutrition consultations and more. Services are available online and in person.

Mental Health Supports for Students and Staff

The University of Alberta provides students and staff access to mental health supports.
Mental Health Supports for Students include community supports, peer support programs and mental wellness programs. WellTrack is a free online self-help program available to all University of Alberta students who want to learn more about coping with stress, anxiety and depression.

Mental Health Supports for Staff include the Employee and Family Assistance Program (EFAP), which offers a wide range of professional mental health counselling and family mediation services.

Global Health Initiative

The Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry’s Global Health Office strengthens medical education and research in global health. The office has bilateral partnerships with institutions in Ghana, Uganda, Nepal, Ethiopia, Kenya, China and the Philippines. University of Alberta students and residents are able to volunteer in middle and low-income countries, while faculty and physicians are invited to the University of Alberta for research and knowledge dissemination.

Health Innovation Hub

The Health Innovation Hub is an incubator for entrepreneurs and innovators who are working towards creating better human health outcomes. Their mission is to build an innovation community in the field of health and life sciences in Alberta by providing support, access to resources, coaching and connections.
